New Business Development Representative

SKILLS/ EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must reside in greater Wichita, Kansas area. Territory for this position currently covers Western Kansas with future expansion east to Highway 63 in Missouri.

Undergraduate degree and 1-2 years related experience or 1-2 years of college combined with a minimum of 3 years sales experience in a related industry. Reliable vehicle, current auto insurance, and valid driver’s license with good driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: The ideal candidate will have the ability to read and interpret documents such as reports, statistical data, and invoices. The candidate will be responsible for reporting and corresponding to the ASM and will be able to speak confidently and professionally with business owners.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: The ideal candidate will have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages as well as probability and forecasting theory. The rep will apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: The ideal candidate will have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The individual will interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Responsible for new business development for the division in assigned territory.
  • Establish definitive sales objectives, by category, based on assigned annual territory goals.
  • Call on assigned independent accounts, and devise and implement strategies for increasing sales and sales profitability on each product category while maintaining existing business.
  • Prospect and establish new accounts throughout territory.
  • Secure proposed new accounts’ financial information and submit to Credit Manager in accordance with the division credit policy.
  • Manage time and territory by planning itinerary effectively and efficiently, and allocating call frequency based on the account’s potential value.
  • Ensure compliance with credit and returns policies.
  • Control account receivables for assigned accounts and furnish updates to management as requested.
  • Support and integrate corporate and divisional marketing programs into account penetration sales strategies.
  • Provide customer service to assigned accounts by researching customer complaints and furnishing solutions for customer satisfaction.
  • Attain and report competitive activity management for evaluation.
  • May provide training/guidance to local merchandisers.
